Product definition and product research share the overall foundation of great design. Before a successful product is built, it's important to first understand its purpose and context for existence. Without a clear understanding of the definition, it's nearly impossible to conduct research. During the defining and research phase, a UX team must brainstorm at the highest level with all stakeholders involved.
This phase often includes:
Maps out the primary aspects of the product, such as what it is, who it's for, and when it will be used.
A project kickoff meeting to set expectations, brainstorm, and create an initial concept of what the team is looking to build.
A quality product experience begins with a great understanding of the user.
Research helps UX designers understand the current industry standards and identify opportunities of improvement for the product within that specific area.
